Family Support

Family Support helps families of different cultural backgrounds and origins to connect, share, and get support whenever this is needed. Family Support is committed to creating a warm, supportive, and respectful atmosphere where every family feels valued and heard. Family Support offers helpful advice and fosters a community that embraces diversity and lifts each other up. Family support looks at promoting and protecting the wellbeing and right of all children, parents, families and communities. Offering positive informal social support, looking at early intervention across a range of levels and needs. 

What do we mean by family?

We use the term ‘family’ to include all relationships that connect people, whether biological, social or legally recognised. This includes parents, guardians, children, couples, siblings, grandparents, and extended family members. Family Support helps through positive support, early intervention, and community connection, to support families from all background to connect, share experiences, and access support in a warm, respectful, and inclusive environment. we promote the wellbeing of children, parents, families, and communities.

Family Support helps families manage everyday challenges at home, in school, and within the community. Early interventions can prevent difficulties from escalating, strengthen relationships, build confidence, and help families access the support they need.

Family support at KBFRC

KBFRC will advocate for and support those who raise and take care of children. This takes the form of providing a range of practical supports, services and information to assist parents and caregivers to deal with family & childhood difficulties. Parenting Programmes

The Circle of Security Parenting Programme helps parents and caregivers better understand their child’s emotional needs and strengthen their relationship with their child. The programme supports adults to build secure, positive connections by learning how to recognise children’s feelings, respond with confidence, and support healthy emotional development.
This welcoming and supportive programme offers practical tools and guidance to help children feel safe, understood, and supported as they grow.

The Adolescent Programme supports parents and caregivers in understanding and responding to the challenges that can arise during the teenage years. The programme offers practical guidance, communication strategies, and positive parenting approaches to help strengthen relationships, build confidence, and support young people’s emotional wellbeing and development.

Parenting through challenging, dominating, or harmful behaviour can feel overwhelming, isolating, and emotionally exhausting. The Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) Programme offers compassionate support to parents and caregivers who are struggling with these difficulties at home.
NVR helps parents regain confidence, strengthen relationships, and respond to challenging behaviour in a calm, safe, and effective way. The programme focuses on connection, clear boundaries, emotional resilience, and reducing conflict while promoting safety and wellbeing for the whole family.
Through practical strategies, guidance, and shared support, parents learn they are not alone and that positive change is possible.

The Family Communication Programme supports parents and caregivers in strengthening communication and relationships within the family, particularly with teenagers and young people. The programme explores practical ways to manage everyday family challenges, improve understanding, build positive connections, and develop healthy communication skills in a supportive environment.

Wellbeing & Personal Development Programmes

Seasons of Growth: Grief, Loss and Change provides a compassionate and supportive space to explore the emotional impact of life’s transitions. Through reflection, connection, and practical coping strategies, participants are encouraged to acknowledge their experiences, build resilience, and discover ways to move forward while honouring what has been lost.

The Caring for Your Wellbeing Programme provides a supportive and welcoming space to explore practical ways to improve your mental and emotional wellbeing. Participants will learn strategies for managing stress, building resilience, enhancing self-care, and developing positive coping skills for everyday life. Whether you are facing challenges or simply looking to prioritise your wellbeing, this programme offers tools, support, and opportunities for personal growth in a safe and inclusive environment.

Taking Action for Your Whole Health and Wellbeing is a practical and supportive programme that helps participants improve their physical, emotional, mental, and social wellbeing. Through an interactive, 2-day workshop, participants will learn strategies to manage stress, build resilience, strengthen self-care practices, and develop healthy habits. The programme provides a welcoming space to explore personal strengths, set goals, and take positive steps towards a healthier and more balanced life.

Our Personal Development Programme is designed to help individuals develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and life skills through interactive learning and personal reflection. Whether you’re looking to improve your wellbeing, enhance your communication skills, set new goals, or gain greater confidence in everyday life, this programme provides practical tools and support to help you thrive.

Other Supports

Family support help families access a range of services, including GP and mental health services, counselling, housing support, financial advice through MABS, social welfare, educational supports, parenting programmes, Tusla family support services, domestic violence services, employment supports, and community organisations. We assess each family’s needs and make appropriate referrals, ensuring families receive coordinated support to improve their wellbeing and promote positive outcomes.

Family support workers provide information, resources, and referrals to help individuals and families access health, social care, housing, education, financial, and community services. We assess needs, refer families to appropriate professionals and services, such as healthcare providers, counselling services, and MABS, promoting early intervention, informed decision-making, independence, and overall wellbeing.

Family support workers offer one-to-one confidential support in a safe and respectful environment where individuals can discuss their concerns openly. We listen without judgement, maintain confidentiality, and offer guidance and emotional support to promote wellbeing and help individuals access appropriate services.

The Meitheal process promotes early intervention, partnership, and shared decision-making, ensuring families are supported in a collaborative and respectful way to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

Family support supply court accompaniment and support by helping individuals understand the court process and offering emotional support before and during proceedings. We may accompany clients to court when appropriate, helping to reduce anxiety and ensuring they feel informed, supported, and able to participate in the process.
