Get Involved and Help Your Community
Volunteers are a vital part of the Killaloe/Ballina Family Resource Centre’s past, present and future. By freely giving their time, energy, skills and enthusiasm, volunteers make an invaluable contribution in a variety of ways especially to the organisation and its users. Without volunteers, the Centre could not provide the quantity and quality of services that it does. Over the years, the Centre has worked with various educational institutions to offer a unique experience for students as well as involve a large number of local volunteers. Here at the KBFRC, volunteers are seen as an important resource and therefore, are supported and managed in an unique environment.
What is the Role of Volunteers?
Volunteers are appointed to complement paid staff; not to substitute for them and clear roles are established to differentiate between paid staff and volunteers in order to foster mutually beneficial and complementary relationships. Volunteers improve and broaden the range of services that the Killaloe/Ballina Family Resource Centre offers to the community as a whole. Although some services may be entirely delivered by volunteers, the responsibility and accountability for these services ultimately lies with paid staff and the Board of Management.
So if you are looking for an opportunity to give back to your community and gain valuable experience at the same time, you’ve come to the right place. Do you enjoy meeting new people and working in a friendly environment? Here at K/B CFRC, we are always looking for volunteers who want to get involved so fill out a form below and we’ll be in touch.
How to Get Involved?
If you are interested in volunteering with the Family Resource Centre you can talk to any member of staff, they will sit down with you to fill out an ‘Initial Contact’ form. This form will be forwarded to the Centre’s Volunteer Co-ordinator who will then contact you to make an appointment to meet and discuss current volunteering opportunities. If a position is available you will be asked to fill out an Application Form and a Garda Vetting Form.
The K/B CFRC will consider anyone who:
* Is over 18 years of age (exceptions can be made in the area of youth work volunteering);
* Is able to demonstrate a commitment to the Vision Statement and Ethos of the organisation;
* Has some understanding of the needs of the community;
* Their skills and needs as volunteers match the needs of the K/B CFRC;
* Does not have a conflict of interest with any aspect of the organisation;
* Is not a paid staff member where the volunteering position is of an on-going nature (permission should be given by the Project Manager when a member of staff wishes to volunteer for events).
The K/B CFRC recognises the differences and diversity in the needs of potential volunteers. It particularly acknowledges the needs and welcomes the involvement of target group representatives.
